yes, but the tuner is terrible so best to run cable to a vcr with decent tuner and then direct input to the dvdr.

answer 3
Tuner picks up analog cable station. This works if your cable coax comes direct from wall to the unit or if coax runs thru a digital cable box first.

I think it does support atsc because I would not be able to tune in channels such as 78.4 or 117.9 which are true digital broadcasts

As long as your VHS tapes are recorded from TV or made on a camcorder. Pre-recorded "Hollywood" movies can be recorded to HDD but not to DVD.

answer 2
Yes. As long as you have your vcr hooked up to the TV, then it through your TV. It would be similar to copying from one tape to another using 2 vcrs. Push play on vcr and then record on item.

You should be able to record any programming from HBO to the HDD but not to a DVD (either directly or dubbed from HDD).

answer 2
I don't know about all programming, but I am able to record from HBO and Showtime, Encore, and Starz. This may also have something to do with the cable box provided to you from your service provider. I do know that you cannot record from a purchased or rented copy protected DVD to the Hard Drive.

You can record one show at a time. I have the Phillips 160Gb Recorder and Dvd Recorder and I can only record one program. I can watch another recording will it is recording too. I can also turn the input off of the tv and watch any other channel. That is what I do all the time because when I am done recording I don't want the thing left on.

No, cant watch another show while recording. Dont know about the 180gb model but would say no also. The recorder would need two tuners. Dont have a problem with this, just switch back to the TV input and watch what I want.
