Does this record closed captioning on digital?
I need to have closed captioning on everything. Bought a DVD recorder that will not record the closed captioning. So am looking for recorder that will record CLosed captioning.

I turn CC1 on my TV and the playback shows the captions. With CC set to off they are gone.

The machine has a coax cable throughput so it has a coax input so you can tune separate HDD channels to record and a coax output to continue out to the TV.

yes you can, and good idea. but upgrade to the 160 hdd model for twice the storage, any camera that uses rca type plugs would work or cable type plugs, ( inputs like a vcr )

Yes you can. The unit has a dub feature where you can dub recordings from the hard drive to a DVD and vice versa. It does this at a higher speed and you can also dub more than one program to a DVD if wanted.

It has a setting for some type of upconverting but its not very good. I get a better picture with it off. If you want better upconverting for and HDD unit then look at the Philips DVDR3576H 160GB HDD-DVD Recorder. Its the upgrade model for this Magnavox.

Can VHS tapes be put into chapters on DVD?
I have a ton of home videos that I would like to store onto DVDs but would like to set them up into chapters/scenes for easier access later. Does this recorder let you do that and if so, can it be done internally (using the hard drive to organize the video) BEFORE you burn to disk?

I haven't done it, but according to manual page 80 (http://www.funai-corp.com/6pdf/om/H2080MW8.pdf) you can create up to 99 chapters on this unit, before burning to DVD.
