Yes. This carseat can be installed with the lapbelt only
IF the child is at least 1yr old, between 20-65lbs and between 27"-52".
If the child is smaller, you need a rear-facing seat.
If the child is larger, you need a booster, and a booster requires the shoulder belt.

answer 2
YES and NO
YES -- you MAY use a lap-only belt if the you are using the seat in HARNESSED MODE
NO -- you may NOT use a lap-only belt for either booster mode (high-back or backless), you must have a lap-shoulder combo to use a non-harnessing booster seat

This is forward facing only. However, my son is ten months and it really protects him. At first I was worried about the forward facing but after trying my son in the display at BuyBuyBaby, I was convinced it was what I wanted. It has been a great seat and I feed comfortable with him in it.

Question

Is this product rear facing approved?

The state i live in wants my 9 month old son to stay in a rear facing car seat until he is 2yrs old and if i get pulled over or if the state some how find out that he's under 2 n in a front facing seat i could get in alot of trouble with the law. But my son is currently 22lb & 30in long n is to big for his rear facing seat and God only knows how big he'll be by the time his 1st birthday let alone is 2nd. Plus i REALLY dont want to buy a bigger rear face car seat when im just gonna buy a front face seat in a year from now.

No this car seat is not approved for rear facing. There are car seats similar to this one that are approved for rear facing so that you won't have to buy another one. There are studies to show that an infant should remain rear faced until at least 2 yrs of age and in some countries that's the law. One product is the Graco My ride 65. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure what state you live in but I couldn't find one that has a law that a child MUST be in a rear facing car seat until after their 2nd birthday. It's a recommendation but not a law. I'd dbl check with your local pd. To answer your question, no this car seat is not a rear facing car seat.

answer 4
This is only a forward facing seat. Your 9 month old should still rear face.(most states they must rear face till 1 AND 20lbs) You should look at a convertible car seat this way you can keep him rear facing till 2 or 40lbs(I say 40 cause allot of the convertible seats go to that weight. If he reaches 2 before 40 then if you want you can turn him forward(it is safest rear facing) and keep him in that seat till he reaches the weight limit. I had something like this one just different print. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Cosco-Scenera-Convertible-Car-Seat-Marianne/20753140

This is not a rear facing carseat. Usually states have a weight/height requirement in addition to age. Your son might meet the size requirement to use a forward facing seat. My state is the same way, but it is one year old and/or 21 lbs. My children meet the weight, but not the age. Both of them were in forward facing seats before one year old. However, this is a wonderful seat to buy when you do get a forward facing seat.

It fits good next to my other carseat and I've had it like this for over a year now. My SUV does have anchors behind the carseats and both my children are anchored down in the back so no worries. I love this carseat, best purchase I've made for my son and he loves it!!!

Most vehicles won't allow that. For example, my minivan's owner's manual doesn't allow it...not enough LATCH anchors I suppose...although I never tried using LATCH on one and the lap belt on the other. But I probably won't!!

I just installed my 3rd seat of this kind in our Chevy Silverado truck. There's absolutely no room to spare, but the are installed properly and tight. If you have a Toys R Us or Babies R Us...use their display models to see if they will install. That is what I did before purchasing.

It does take up space. If you are just trying to put 2 in one row of your suv they would certainly fit. With ours I can sit in the back of our Hyundai Santa Fe with the car seat one side of me and my oldest daughter (12 yrs old) on my other side. I hope that helped you! It really is a great car seat...I've been hit by a drunk driver with my daughter in it (now I have new one of exactly the same).

Question

Carseat only good for so long....

If a car seat is only good for 5 years what makes this manufacturer think that this one will last 10? Also, I have Sentra which means very little leg room. Right now my son (2 1/2) is in the middle. Would this fit in my car or is too big? I'm very interested in it with all the good reviews.

This seat has a steel-reinforced frame. I'm not certain of this, but I believe this and the Sunshine Kids are the only two with a steel frame. In all-plastic car seats the plastic can break down and become brittle, but there would be no worries of that happening with this seat. I've used it for both of my kids from age 1 to now age 6, from a 5-point harness to now a backless booster and I am still loving it. We own a small Scion XB and even having the car seats placed on the side there is plenty of leg room. It helps greatly that this car seat does not sit up on a large base like many convertible car seats. It provides much more space for the child's legs to lay flat against the seat of the car.

The carseat is good for 6 years. I think what they mean is that it is good for up to age 10. My son is 2.5 also and he loves the seat. I have a tiny suv but it fits in my hubbys car and small ext truck so I am sure it would fit in your car.

This seat is forward-facing only so it should be able to fit into a coupe. What you have to pay attention to are the type of seat belts you have in your car and how they "lock." Since you do not have LATCH in your car you have to use the seat belts. I would also recommend going to a store and asking if you could try the floor model in your car to make sure it fits.
