The previous posters are not correct... you can connect a PC to this TV if the PC has DVI output (VGA=a blue monitor connector with 15 holes/DVI=white connector with lots of holes). If you have DVI, just buy a DVI to HDMI adapter cable from Walmart and hook it up! My PC uses 1720X1000 resolution and looks fantastic.

Question

What is the max supported PC resolution?

I read the manual online from Sanyo and they mention hooking up DVI->HDMI (cable not included)HDMI input1 using the audio of Input3, but they don't tell what resolution it will support. Specifically we will drive it with a MacBookPro with DVI-D out.

My PC works best at 1720X1000 resolution using a DVI to HDMI adapter cable. It's using an ATI X800 video card.
1920X1080 (1080p) doesn't fit the screen properly.

This tv is digital ready as long as you have the new dtv converter box and the proper antenna you will be fine. For more info on the dtv transition go to dtv.gov and it will answer more questions you may have.

It will do both analog and digital over-the-air channels with an antenna, yes. The analog channels tend to look bad, but as of February, analog will no longer be broadcast so that isn't much to complain about.

Yes you can connect this to your tv as a monitor. You have to also buy the appropriate cable such as a dv1 to hdmi or a composite video cable. I have mine hooked up right now as a secondary monitor for viewing movies off the pc

I would say YES. Go to Sanyo's website. They have great instructions with diagrams and are easy to follow. Check with your cable provider too if (unlikely) you can't resolve your problem after visiting the Sanyo's site.

The programming from many HDTV providers is actually only 1080i (or even 720p). Your TV will display in 1080p only if its connected to a source that outputs 1080p, like a BluRay player or a PC. If the connectors from your satellite provider's box are three connectors colored red, blue, and green, then you'll only be watching in 1080i anyways (its a technical limitation). You'd need a HD box with HDMI or DVI cable output to see 1080p modes on your TV set.

Yes, it does have a HDTV tuner built in. Depending on your location, you may still have to get a HD antennae to get your locals if there not offered through your cable or satellite provider.

Question

How can I get the best picture from this TV?

I recently purchased this TV and I am not very happy with it. The picture is real grainy looking. There is no clarity to it. I even called my Cable Company to come check my cable and they say it's not the cable. The channels that are HD are not near as good as they should be. Will take any advice on how to correct this problem if possible.

Sounds like your wiring from the cable box to the TV (IF the box is actually an HD box.. make sure). You might be using a cable TV line as a connection (thick, round wire), or a composite wire (single, small wire usually with a yellow connector). Both are unacceptable for HDTV.

You should really be using HDMI for the crisp HD picture you're expecting... or at least try component cables (3 color-coded cables (red-green-blue)) from the cable box to the TV.

You should ask your cable company to send a box with HDMI if the one you're using is missing that feature.

Question

How do I connect my laptop?

I have read several responses which say to use an SVGA to HDMI cable. I have been to a dozen electronic & computer stores, all of which say no such animal exists. Where can one obtain this cable?

You probably won't find that type of cable; you are actually looking for an adapter. However, that type of adapter is hundreds of dollars. The best reasonable adapter is DVI to HDMI (in which your laptop will need to have a DVI video output).

Honestly if your laptop only has VGA/SVGA and your TV doesn't have the VGA/SVGA video input then you won't be able to connect them together.

Your realistic options are: get a new video card (~$150+) for your laptop with a DVI output (and then buy the DVI to HDMI adapter ~$10) OR buy a tv with the VGA/SVGA input (and then just buy a VGA/SVGA cord to connect them).

I hope this helps.
