The wax block that comes with it is unscented. I prefer buying wax beads instead of ever using the blocks. The melt faster and you can also buy them in unscented or scented. But I feel they work better than the wax blocks which I think are a cheaper type of wax.

Question

Can you use water with this unit or is it only wax?

I have never had a foot spa and wondered how it works. Also, does it run on batteries or outlet?

Wax only and plugged into outlet only. Once the wax is melted you can unplug the unit and take it to an area where you prefer to use it as the wax remains warm enough for complete use. I suggest using a medium setting as the highest setting is way to hot. Fine to melt the wax quickly but too hot for dipping.

answer 2
Parafin Spa's CANNOT be used with water...it's for parafin wax only.
It works by dipping you hands (or feet) in the melted wax 3-4 times, coating them with the wax, placing a baggie over them and slipping on the mitts to keep the warmth inside. By doing this the parafin softens your hands (feet). After approx. 10-15 min. just slide the wax off your hands and they should feel extremely soft.
Unit only plugs into wall outlet and has no batteries.

You plug it into a wall outlet.

And it is for wax. Not sure if water can be used.

it has 3 settings: lo-med-hi. On lo-it takes about 1 hour, med- approx. 45 minutes, hi-approx. 30-35 minutes.
just don't forget to turn it to LO before putting your hand in, wax gets very hot on MED & HI settings.

Five feet. But you don't have to leave it plugged in once the wax is warmed enough for use. I can do both hands and feet before the wax cools.

You can buy refills at any wal-mart store or online. I didn't find any Dr. Scholls wax refills online but I did find this, Revlon MoistureStay Parrafin Spa Bath Refill Kit
$8.96, which works the same as the original was that comes with this.

Yes. However, I turn it off and unplug it between uses. It only takes about 45 min. to one hour to heat up and melt the wax before using it.

After dipping hands or feet in wax, you can place the bags on. I never use them and you don't really have to either. Works fine without them.

No it does not. I use wax beads rather than the blocks because the melt faster and come in a variety of scents and color and I feel they work much better. I usually have these on hand and never use the blocks of wax that come with the unit. You can find the beads at a Sally's or through Amazon.com

Approximately five feet. But you don't have to leave it plugged in to use once the wax has reached the desired enjoyable temperature. I move my unit out to the living room to use and when I'm finished I put in back in the spare room and reheat the wax until it's all liquid again and shut the unit off.
