No, you do NOT need earlier versions of the sims to play sims 3. Also, if your laptop supports all the specifications (On the back of the sims 3 box) then you can play it. I just installed it on my computer yesterday and Im not sure if your laptop will be able to allot for that much memory. It takes exactly 5,600 MB of space on your computer. Also make sure you have atleast a gig of extra space for saving houses and families. Also you need to have a video card that supports these kinds of graphics. It must have128MB or higher and 2.0 pixelation. It is compatible with Windows Vista.

You don't need any of the other games to play this. And go to http://www.ea.com/games/the-sims-3?nostats=true and run their system requirements check.

No, unlike the line of Sims Expansion Packs, The Sims 3 is a standalone game. which means that you do not need any prior installation of the sims to play this game. Please refer to the system requirements and compare them to your Laptop's specifications. As for windows vista, you should have no problem using the Sims 3 on vista, however like i mentioned, it is very important that you compare your system with the System requirements.

No, Sims 3 is a different game entirely. So you won't need any of the other Sims games to play it.

My friend plays her Sims game on her laptop that runs on Vista, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to =)

I believe that you can download a copy from certain online retailers, and that would the only way you can play it without a DVD player.

The only other way is to buy a internal or external DVD player...

If the game comes on a DVD (which the sims 3 does), you need a DVD drive in order to install it. However, one workaround of this is if you have a fast internet connection and meet all the System Requirements for The Sims 3, then you can purchase it direct from EA games via Digital Download. The perks to this are: You don't have to leave your house, you don't need a dvd drive. However the Cons are: You don't have a disc which means you need to back up your download somehow whether it be saving your proof of purchase, purchase key, etc. So depends on the type of person you are.

They may have a CD-ROM version out. Most manufacurers design both a DVD and CD-ROM version of their games for people who may not have the appropriate drive. You will just have to look around to see.

http://www.thesims3.com/ is a good place to start.

Sims 2 is a great game, but Sims 3 will be much better. I would advize to wait untill June 2 and get Sims 3.

Sims 1 was great, Sims 2 came out and now never play sims 1, I expect the same to happen this time.

In this game you can see the whole neighborhood while you're playing on a person/sim. You can modify how the person looks in so many different ways. You can choose the sims's really personality, like excited, hot headed, cheerful etc. It also looks like the sims are real. You can have your sim's houses actually be on the beach. You can go and visit other people's houses, not them visit you! It's going to be som much better than the other Sims. For more info go on youtube and search "the sims 3".

The Sims 3 is a fresh new addition to the series. Everything in the game is more customizable than it was in The Sims 2 and it has a new feature where the neighborhood is seamless, meaning that you can go anywhere in the neighborhood without stopping and saving. You can also give Sims personalities now. I think the biggest difference though is that mostly everything is customizable (colors, textures, patterns for clothes, carpets, wallpaper, objects, etc).

I believe so..Remember when the Sims 2 came out..Well its gonna be a great possibility that it will come out for other consoles. And to say it, now that the 360, Wii, and PS3 are out and the graphics are way more advanced then ever. Of course they should release it. It would look amazing on either console. Just keep looking for it, or try checking out GameInformers..<-- they always keep up with a good update of the latest games to soon be release... if that dosen't help try RESEARCH...thats great to...and if not that..try the sims website.

The same thing happened to me. Except the error message appeared at the beginning of installation. I could play, I designed my family and entered a lot, but once I tried to build and construct my house, it froze up. My computer then went to the home screen and everything looked like a negative color setting on a camera. The monitor display was big and pixely. I pulled the power and restarted, thinking it was a glitch. But the second time I played, it happened again. I looked into it and the video card in my computer is unsupported. My computer has intel pentium 4 and is a hp pavillion and the video or graphics card intsalled is out of date. I hate to break this to you, but you are going to have to buy a new video card. (Like fifty dollars for the game wasn't enough, huh?!) Buy a card with 128MB and 2.0 pixel strenght or higher. Also, it must be compatable with DirectX 9.0 or a later model. Try the product "Diamond Stealth S120 ATI Radeon 9550 256MB AGP Graphics Card" or the "XFX GeForce 9500 GT 512MB PCI-e Video Card" they range in price from 65-95 dollars, and I think you can buy them on walmart online (they are cheapest there)... they are not sold in walmart stores though. You know, Im a Sims fanatic, ive owned Sims 1, Sims 2, basically all the expansion packs, and now I buy the Sims 3 on the second day it is available in stores... and Im starting to wonder. With the price of the game at 50 dollars and the video card coming to 90 dollars, is controlling virtual lives and building fake houses all day really worth it? Well good luck!

answer 2
First, update your video card drivers. You can do this by visiting the website of the manufacturer of the video card. If the update does not work, make sure you check the model of your video card and compare it to the System Requirements. Keep in mind things like directX and such.

Your video card may be a little old. Being a newer game, The Sims 3 uses some of the newest technology available. It requires a fairly powerful video card. It may be time to change your video card to accomadate newer software.

As far as I know, there is no reason the two games should interfere with each other, since they exist in completely different directories.
Even playing the two games at the same time should be OK assuming you have sufficient memory...enjoy!

Not necessarily.... It depends on the size of your hard drive (mine is 750 GB), and whether or not your PC meets the minimum requirements in order to run the game. You can check those HERE....
