will you be able to close the door after installing the rack

I have no trouble closing my door with the rack installed. My rack does hit a wall rack beside it when the door opens with the rack loaded. The door opens about 3/4 the way open because of this. If you have about 8 inches behind the door, this would not happen. I love the rack.

Yes! I have a packed closet and am still able to close my door with the rack installed (the rack is on the interior of the closet door). You shouldn't have any issues.

Yes you can close the door after placing the rack of the door. Some doors may swing open but I think it just depends on how the door and the door frame were built and what they are made of...

This wasn't designed to be wall mounted. However, you might be able to use a Command product to secure it to the wall. It has six "elbows" that rest on the door that you could attach the Command products. I'd just be afraid of the weight. However, I have two 30 lb framed artwork hanged with them and they hold fine. Hope this helps.

No, the space between the bars is too large. But if you got a poster board and cut it down to go on a rack, you could fit a ton of baby shoes on it.

answer 5
Not unless you keep them in the shoe box.

Not unless you put something on each rung to fill in the space. You could stretch a sturdy cloth strip (or duct tape!) from one side hinge to the other to make a shorter "shelf" on the rung.

Depends on the size of the baby shoes. The space between spindles is approximately 5 inches, so if the baby shoes are smaller or shorter than that, then it will not hold them. Hope this helps.

Probably you would have to screw the unit to the door. The over-the-door hooks come off and leaves metal that can be screwed to the door. I would do this if I were you because it is a great rack and a wonderful way to store a lot of shoes in a small space.

The dimesions are correct but it's in feet not inches.

The door I wanted to hang it from was a smaller than normal door so I used two brass hooks to hang it in my closet - just make sure you measure it correctly and that you are putting the hooks into wall stud

Too large for bifold door but good for 32" or 36" door (inside closet). Width is abour 30" and on regular door side clearance is about 6" on each side.
answered 1 year, 2 months ago
By
Rainbolady
answer 5
The product itself is 21.5" wide, so it would fit. That said, because of how far it sticks out from the door (about 8", but shoes can protrude out further), I have to push it aside slightly every time I close my 23.75" door. You would not have this problem if you put it on the outside of your bifold door (so it folds away from the rack), but if you try putting it on the inside, it wouldn't open all the way.

Question

Could I cut down the bars a few inches with a pipe cutter?

My door is only 24" and I really need a solution similiar to this item for my shoes. Can I trim each bar, granted I measure correctly? Or is there a groove on them that snaps them into place that would cause this not to work? Or could I trim them and glue them into place?

The unit is only 21 3/4 inches wide. It should fit fine on a 24 inch door. If you wanted it more narrow, I suspose you could use a pipe cutter to shorten them. It is a great shoe rack.

There are no grooves on the bars, so I guess you could cut them down. Assembly just requires them to be pushed into the hole, no glue or snapping.

no, there is no groove and, perhaps if there was a groove, they would not pop out as often when assembling the rack. The rods are made of some kind of hard plastic, so I suppose they could be cut to size.

I had the same problem and thought about that too. I think it would work, if you don't mind the work of cutting all those bars. There is no groove, they are just pressed into each side. However, I didn't try it since my daughter loved it and it would fit on her door just fine. She wound up with it and I bought the canvas rack which holds 24 pairs, which is more narrow.
