Could I cut down the bars a few inches with a pipe cutter?
My door is only 24" and I really need a solution similiar to this item for my shoes. Can I trim each bar, granted I measure correctly? Or is there a groove on them that snaps them into place that would cause this not to work? Or could I trim them and glue them into place?

on Whitmor 36 Pair Over the Door Resin Shoe Rack, White
The unit is only 21 3/4 inches wide. It should fit fine on a 24 inch door. If you wanted it more narrow, I suspose you could use a pipe cutter to shorten them. It is a great shoe rack.

Looks like you could cut the ends of the bars off and to reduce the width of the rack.
There are no grooves on the bars, so I guess you could cut them down. Assembly just requires them to be pushed into the hole, no glue or snapping.
Eh, yeah I think that would work...
no, there is no groove and, perhaps if there was a groove, they would not pop out as often when assembling the rack. The rods are made of some kind of hard plastic, so I suppose they could be cut to size.

There is no place to snap them but you could cut them. and gluing wouldn't be necessary since they just pop into the plastic frame.

I had the same problem and thought about that too. I think it would work, if you don't mind the work of cutting all those bars. There is no groove, they are just pressed into each side. However, I didn't try it since my daughter loved it and it would fit on her door just fine. She wound up with it and I bought the canvas rack which holds 24 pairs, which is more narrow.
