Question

Does this have an on/off button or volume controls?

I want to buy this as a gift for my friend's son but I know she gets tired of listening to some of his toys after a while. I know the description says that the music/sounds are motion-activated, but is she able to turn down or turn off the sounds when she wants to?

Yes, it has both an on/off button and a volume control button. Trust me, if her son enjoys it as much as my children do, she won't even mind the music!

It does have an on off button but does not have volume control. I don't think it is that loud though and I can't stand toys that are really loud.

Question

How well/poorly does this "ride" feature work on carpet?

We don't have hardwood floors or anything, mainly carpet and tiling on the kitchen/dining rm floors. My toddler is a strong walker/runner; but would enjoy riding it if she could. My concern is that it won't move when she goes from tile to carpet.

You shouldn't have a problem at all with the jeep riding on carpet or tile. Although, this is a pretty big jeep to be in the house. We have a 3 bedroom decent sized house and the jeep is just too big to ride inside...Not to mention u might have an issue with the kids running into things. lol

Yes it makes train sounds & plays the alphabet song. I'm not sure how many songs it plays, as it plays a song every time you push a button....but it plays many. My 2 y/o could have ridden it at about 18 months old for sure, but I'm not sure about a 1 y/o. It may be to tall still.

The train makes lots of sounds. It plays the alphabet song, it also tells the child the name of the letter and an example word when they insert a block into the spaces on the front. It has a music option and a search option that works like a game for the child to find the letter it's asking for. You can also choose to turn the sounds off. It is perfect for my one year old.

So far, I have only heard the ABC, because my one year old dances to that then starts doing other things to make other noises. It looks easy for my son to ride, He just doesn't exactly know how to turn yet. Yes this train makes sounds. When you put the blocks into the top it counts out loud one after the other, When you turn the pages on the book it talks about the letters on that page and reads a sentence about the letters. When you put the blocks in the squares by the book, it tells you what letter is on the block, what picture is on the block, and asks you to flip it over to see the picture :)

It does make sounds. It's bulky for them to ride at first...but after a while it seems to be a little easier. There is a gap between the main engine and the seat which can make it hard for them to hold on to the handles when they are first starting out..however my one year old still loves to sit and push it!!

Very easy to ride for young children. Unfortunately my daughter would not ride it until some friends brought their slightly older (age 3 and 5)children over to play and she saw them ride it. Then she knew how to ride it and will not stop.

This seem to be easy enough for a toddler to ride on it. My son is only 1 and he is try to move this leg to ride the train. It's seem helpful to have the handle on the front part.
